Menswear of the future will be defined by its intense connectivity of interdependence with the consciousness of mankind. The captivating news in 2020 is that people around the world learned to live and work together remotely. Yet, despite being united in separation, modern times beckon change. More to the point, 2020 has thrust civilization forward to a new frontier.
For better or worse, Menswear Spring/Summer 2021 collections were viewed remotely this year. Although quite often, I wish there was a pause button to slow things down; advancements in technology compel acceptance. In fact, more than ever before, people find themselves reliant on technology.
To top it off this year has brought about health concerns for the obvious reasons, This has been a point of contention for freelance fashion creatives and models alike. Being a male model or commercial model can be a lucrative during mens fashion week. More to the point models have a lifestyle revolving around global travel. During these trying times, many models have voiced their concerns with respect to health and travel.
Everyone aims to be prepared for the “what if” situation. Models can avail Social Security Disability Benefits Attorney and pay for the expenses. Insurance is available to help the models by providing them the informed representatives that will help then to be covered during these times. With their professionalism and efficiency, they walk with customers on their path of getting Social Security Disability Benefits Attorney. If a model has spent a large amount of time in the fashion industry then they can receive a good amount. But for the models, who have spent a few years, will get according to their time period. It also depends on the type of disability they have.
The irony of Covid-19 is that as it put the world on pause, it simultaneously stole the energy of the old in the middle of the night and reinvigorated it to the captivating specifications of the modern era.
As menswear embarks on a new journey, a tour-de-force in creativity concord with technology only heightens the winds of change. If any of my readers recall my past written fashion commentary, I predicted this vigorous changing of the guards many many years ago. The writing was on the wall. Let’s face it, 2020 has been a tough year but it is the spirit of survival that inspires mankind to move on and forge new land.MORE FOR YOURudy Giuliani’s Star Witness Hairdo ExaminedThe Glamorous Black Dress Edit For The Holiday SeasonThe Importance Of Healthy Skin And Impeccable Style In 2021
In the new menswear (s/s 2021) luxury line-ups, product offerings seemingly demonstrate how techniques have developed —such as sustainable apparel, heroic uniformity as well as traces of history from the past. It is a time of liberty, egalitarianism and brotherhood. More to my point, Big Brother has shown his face and in doing so had redefined menswear fashion through apparel and other fashion items having identification numbers, newness of design silhouettes and rich and modified textures as well as genderless pieces all developed as an expression of continuity and uniformity. The new generation of global luxe menswear is a sacred symbol of extraordinary pieces for an extraordinary turning point in the world.
AMIRI.com -Presenting its collection in Los Angeles for the first time, AMIRI’s Spring-Summer 2021 represents a proud homecoming and tribute to West Coast culture. As the community begins to reconnect, this season encourages a message of comfort inspired by an attitude of wellness and ease that is quintessentially Californian. Overlooking the city, the show is captured at John Lautner’s iconic Sheats-Goldstein Residence in Beverly Hills – a stone’s throw from the brand’s new Rodeo Drive flagship store. An original mix created and performed by legendary LA producer, The Alchemist, floats through the runway. This season, CEO and Creative Director Mike Amiri paints a native’s portrait of the LA spirit: expressive stories riff across an eased silhouette, embracing an attitude of comfort and leisure alongside the house’s rock ‘n’ roll voice. At the heart of the collection, AMIRI’s signature relaxed tailoring is coupled with 70s-inspired sportswear as athletic constructions become the equivalent of a tailored suit. Woolen overcoats wrap around drawstring nylon and lightweight leather sports shorts as louche t-shirts crafted in silk trim offer the formal touch of fine evening wear. Proving that the AMIRI man finds equal comfort in leisure as on the stage, structured blazers contrast with denim and authentic athletic detailing, while collegiate varsity jackets layer over jumpsuits cut at the knees and rendered in rich, soft leather. Drawing codes out of their comfort zones, workwear is treated like tailoring: jumpsuits emerge in deep indigo and white tobacco leather as a nod to LA’s thriving DIY art scene, while dungaree styles accent a relaxed demeanor, crafted in AMIRI’s hallmark denim. CANALI The Inspiration for the collection comes from an imaginary voyage of self-discovery and tracing the path of an adventure. Focusing on the lightness of garments and the materials used, sometimes true to tradition and sometimes innovative, but always with comfort and fit in mind. The color palette is composed of natural colors and pastels to accompany and exalt the exquisite fabrics. CANALI transcends the borders of formal and informal, in a search for one’s own personal form of comfort and elegance. Price in USD. N/A yet.
Dolce&Gabbana SS2021 Men’s Collection was presented at the Campus of Humanitas University. Art, design and fashion: the collection is a tribute to the Italian genius manifested at the Parco dei Principi Hotel in Sorrento – designed by Gio Ponti in 1960 – where the colors of the sea mix with the lightness of white. The merge between modernity and neoclassicism becomes the common thread, where geometric and linear designs, referring to the ceramics of the Sixties, are combined with prints of neoclassical statues and busts, in a game of contrasts harmonized by the delicacy of the shades of the sky. Oversized volumes, combination of different materials, overlaps and juxtapositions are the main features of the garments.- Price upon request
Giuseppe Zanotti’s Spring Summer 2021 collection brings the idea of transformation to a new level. It’s a step-change that started by first reflecting on the results of the past few years and all the unexpected and diverse experiences that have fed into them up to now. As we hold a mirror up to the societal changes we are experiencing, the collection seeks to break down every barrier, every limitation and aim for the absolute. $1150
GUCCI -Check cotton lamé jacket & flare pant. This suit is a part of the men’s FW20 collection. The iridescent check suit adds a glimmering effect to suiting separates. Tailored pieces in unexpected fabrics continue to speak to the Gucci narrative. Originally a velodrome designed in 1923, with its late Art Nouveau architectural style and its vast elliptical shaped space, Palazzo delle Scintille—‘Sparks Palace’—in Milan was the location of the Fall Winter 2020 Men’s fashion show. Pieces with versatile ways to wear and style embrace each person who is part of the House’s individual spirit. Jacket – $3,900, Pant – $1,980. Jacket here, pant here

Between working from home, checking your phone and watching TV, the amount of screen time you’re logging has likely gone up in recent months. And with blue light most notably emitted from those same screens, your level of blue light exposure has likely increased as well.
But what’s so wrong with blue light? For one thing, it contributes to eye strain, and can also increase the risk of macular degeneration as well as other vision complications. It can also affect your sleep by disrupting your circadian rhythm. And while we’re all exposed to the blue light that comes from the sun (it’s the blue wavelengths in sunlight), which actually boosts attention and mood during the day, it’s our exposure to blue light outside of daylight hours that can affect us in less desirable ways. Which is where blue light glasses come in. Blue light blocking glasses have special lenses that are thought to block or filter out blue light given off from screens, arguably mitigating any potential negative effects. And while even the best blue light glasses have their use, experts stress that they aren’t a magical tool that will solve all your eye problems.
Many people develop eye issues like dry eye and eye strain when they’re in front of a screen because they don’t blink enough, says Sunir J. Garg, M.D., a professor of ophthalmology at the Retina Service of Wills Eye Hospital. “Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look into the distance,” he says. “That will lubricate your eyes more and help with symptoms.”
There isn’t a lot of research to support the use of blue light glasses, says Phillip Yuhas, O.D., Ph.D., assistant professor in the College of Optometry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, but this is a newer type of glasses. “Some patients do find that some blue light blocking glasses improve subjective comfort while viewing a screen,” Yuhas says. MORE FROM FORBES12 Of The Best Gifts For FriendsBy Nicola Fumo
Blue light glasses may also help you get a better night’s sleep, says Garg. “For some folks, exposing themselves to intense blue light at nighttime can screw up their internal clock,” he says. “That can mess up certain people’s sleep-wake cycles. There may be some advantage to people using blue light glasses at night if they’re having trouble sleeping.”
Ultimately, investing in a pair of blue light glasses probably couldn’t hurt. But it’s a good idea to talk to your eye doctor about other reasons for your eye issues if you’re having uncomfortable symptoms, says Vivian Shibayama, O.D., an optometrist with UCLA Health.

Regulars of spas, skin clinics and wellness centers believe that healthy, radiant skin is an investment. When skin is nourished, hydrated and glowing, it is indication of overall wellbeing. It tells the world that one has slept, eaten, and lived well. It also makes one feel more confident about themselves. For the quintessential beauty enthusiast, it is a true expression of self care and love.
This most interesting, unusual and cliff hanger of a year had us exploring countless ways of keeping our mind, body, soul and skin in the pink of health. During this chapter in our lives spent in quarantine, many of us registered the most number of hours dedicated to self care routines. Among those are skincare regimens that attempt to fill the void from missing our most trusted dermatologists and beauty experts. What makes the pampering experience in clinics and spa so precious are the service that makes us feel right and use of state-of-the-art machines. Admittedly, these are factors that are not so easy to replicate at home, although one can always try.
Before the pandemic hit, regular visits to one of Manila’s most trusted bio-hacking centers, UNLTD, were “non-negotiable” even during busy times like Christmas. I go there for various treatments to help support health and wellness. Red Light Therapy at UNLTD has always been a cure for muscle pains and aches from workouts. It has also been a tool for relaxation and rejuvenation.
While waiting to book my next visit to the bio-hacking center, news of the first at-home LED Bed made by LightStim presented itself as a brilliant alternative. This wellness gem “utilizes that power of LightStim Multiwave Patented Technology, which offers a natural and proactive alternative to invasive procedures and addictive pain medications.”MORE FOR YOURudy Giuliani’s Star Witness Hairdo ExaminedThe Glamorous Black Dress Edit For The Holiday SeasonThe Importance Of Healthy Skin And Impeccable Style In 2021
LED treatments are wonderful tools for managing aches and pains. I’ve personally experienced its wonders at the bio-hacking center and highly recommend it especially for active individuals who need extra support for muscle and tissue recovery. Apart from pain relief, other benefits of the LED Bed include improved blood circulation and relaxation of muscles. The team adds, “LightStim delivers light energy in a similar way plants absorb light energy from the sun. The LED Bed uses red light therapy for a non-invasive, soothing and gentle treatment that sets in motion the body’s inherent pain-relieving process.”
Arrival of my LED Light Mask from LOVE-K DERMA made me feel that my skin pampering routine has truly stepped up. Well, not fully as in the case of a professional beauty expert, but definitely a few notches up. The skincare technology company that launched in the Philippines just when most of us derma and skin center regulars needed it most, uses state-of-the-art beauty solutions with unique K-Beauty formulations to enhance any routine.
In the case of its LED Light Mask, light therapy is utilized to support anti-aging, skin rejuvenation. Studies from skin experts as well as NASA have also shown that use of LED lights help reduce pigmentation, speed up the healing process and improve blood circulation. The LOVE K-DERMA explains: “The hype of NASA’s research on LED Light therapy (has made this innovation) the most sought after anti-aging and rejuvenation technology. Our device comes with 420 LED multi-colored lights combined with 7 color treatment that targets skin concerns, helps combat all signs of aging, clears blemishes and reduces pigmentation.”
Using the LED Light Mask is easy and convenient. No rocket science required. After a thorough cleanse, apply LOVE-K DERMA Glass Activating Gel all over the face. This special potion was formulated to compliment the Light Mask and is packed with collagen and hyaluronic acid. What this gel does is prep the skin for enhanced brightening and lifting.
Wearing the mask and actually getting it to work is idiot-proof. Units are made with a built-in voice prompt to help guide you through the entire 10-minute treatment. I like to sync these brief moments of me-time with a quick nap. There are seven light modes to choose from depending on your skin goals and concerns:
· Blue light helps treat mild to moderate acne.
· Red light stimulates boosts cellular activity.
· Green light stimulates collagen to smoothen wrinkles and fine lines.
· Cyan light promotes tissue metabolism and enhances cellular energy.
· Yellow light speeds up skin’s natural detoxification.
· Purple light combines the functions of both Red and Blue light mode.
· White light emits three-fold frequencies from Red, Blue and Green light modes.
For a full skin boost, follow the treatment with LOVE K-DERMA’s Gold Glow Serum. A combination of real gold specs, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, smoothens skin while bringing back its elasticity and glow. One of FORBES France’s Top 10 Luxury Influencers, Heart Evangelista, affirms: “I’ve been using the LED Light Mask and have included it to my nightly routine. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking to achieve a healthy and natural glow! I also really like that its well thought of design ensures maximum absorption of the light into the skin while also keeping my eyes safe with a built in eye shield!” Other beauty devices from LOVE K-DERMA that are designed to enhance the at-home skincare experience include: LED Face Lift Wand and the LED Eye Lift Wand.
Days spent at the AIVEE CLINIC (also known as Aivee Day) are wellness treats to look forward to. Since temporary closures during quarantine, many of the clinic’s clients have been missing favorite treatments that include Ulthera, Thermage, EmSculpt and Glass Skin. Turn of events in 2020 inspired the team behind AIVEE CLINIC to develop its own range of skincare kits, supplements as well as home devices to help bring the Aivee experience to your very own home. This also saw the launch of AIVEE’s online boutique.
Just recently, they introduced the GLASS SKIN home device. This cutting edge skincare solution sprays “ultra fine powerful compresses air enriched with AIVEE’s Signature Anti Aging Solution.” Benefits from using Glass Skin include fast and even absorption of the solution, tightening of pores as well as immediate skin rejuvenation. Glass skin is a beauty concept and trend rooted on K-Beauty. Its aim and ultimate goal is to help create the appearance of glassy, clear and pore-less skin, even while at home. Through devices like AIVEE’s Glass Skin, LightStim’s LED Bed and LOVE K DERMA’s LED Light Mask recreating that ultimate beauty and wellness experience at home is no longer a distant dream.Bianca Salonga

DRESS FOR SUCCESS
A well tailored suit is quite often symbolic of refined men of power. As the American workforce defiantly moves forward into 2021, it is time to take note that modern suit conveys a positive message of power and strength— as its prime voice of elegance throughout the work week.
More to the point, it is to be worn with much distinguished pride as well as a strong sense of achievement. Let’s face it, at the end of the day, you are dressing the part to gain the ultimate win!
On the infamous ladder to reaching for corporate ascension, dressing for success displays your worth and value while respecting your firm and your superiors. In hindsight, a crisp yet sharply-tailored monochromatic suit was unavoidably flooding the streets of days gone by.
In the past, there has long been an expectation of appropriate attire required in certain social settings, and however broken those borders may be, they shall never be forgotten. Perhaps now, one may only wear a suit for a special occasion. Exuding confidence is collectively attributed by physical appearance and the charismatic nature gained from this, forming an attractive and enticing appeal of accomplishment to those surrounding you.MORE FOR YOURudy Giuliani’s Star Witness Hairdo ExaminedThe Glamorous Black Dress Edit For The Holiday SeasonHoliday Gift Guide 2020: The Best Sexy Lingerie And Cozy Loungewear Brands
What is considered the modern-day suit was first introduced to society in the early 19th century and also marked a pinnacle moment for men and their newfound grooming routines. Self care and refinement in displaying their appearance would soon set the bar to a cleanly nurtured path ahead.
Where does dressing for success stand today? Call it traditional or contemporary, the array of luxury fashion houses continue to stay loyal to their quality of purification with sartorial elegance, while allowing creative elements to make whimsical diverse creations. Today, much attention is paid to sustainable apparel. In fact, the forthright global movement delivers options that are fashion forward and in compliance with sustainable guidelines.
The allure and significance of a man dressed in his power suit may have eclectic twists that are exceedingly in vogue. This proves that dressing for success is conveyed in various forms of your appearance. You can’t argue fashion, you simply have an opinion, but when it truly comes down to it, the importance of a well dressed man is what ultimately achieves triumph!
In speaking about reaching future goals, make no bones about it; you can achieve success through hard work and determination. But there is no denying that a healthy looking skin can make all the difference. No matter what your age is; you can benefit from developing a skincare regimen for your skin. The good news is that a good skin regime can show positive results within a week. Even simply moisturizing the face before you go to bed can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and redness.
On the topic of corporate ascension, it makes sense that healthy skin is valuable. In fact, in general, incomes skew higher for people with a healthy glow and power style. And for you guys who insist that you do not have the time, I can assure you that a modified skin regime just got a lot less complex. More to the point, new product offerings for men will make it as easy as it comes.
I recently came across a forward thinking men’s skin care brand named Cardon. The brand name stems from the cactus-based skincare line where all products are made with cactus extract to prevent skin irritation.
In a word, I found the product as well as the packaging to be focused on a male-specific market segmentation that is growing at an enormous rate. Over a decade ago of new genre of popular music (originated in South Korea) referred to as K-pop had launch to fame in America. Today, I introduce you to a new concept named K-grooming. Get ready to sit back and watch this South Korean mens skincare brand not only make an entrance but rather take over center stage!
I recently had the privilege to speak with co-founders Narae Chung and Jacqueline Oak at Cardon about how Cardon products are focused on solving men’s grooming needs, how Korean skincare philosophy embodies a lifestyle of self-care and why they believe that everything they do is rooted in solving the pain points!
Joseph DeAcetis: Talk to Forbes about how your entrepreneurial spirit helped you develop this brand while studying at the Wharton School of Business.
Narae Chung: Jacqueline and I both chose to pursue our MBAs because we wanted to start our own businesses. Over the last decade, Wharton has become known for its entrepreneurship program and resources, and its alumni spearheaded the DTC movement with Warby Parker, Harry’s, Burrow, and Snowe to name a few. Wharton gave us access to a strong network of alumni, professors, and classmates, one of whom became my co-founder.
Jacqueline and I were both part of the Wharton Semester in San Francisco program, which specializes in entrepreneurship and innovation. We often enjoyed bouncing new ideas off each other and found that we both had a passion for consumer goods, given her background at retail startups like Quidsi and M.M.LaFleur, and mine at P&G. We decided to be roommates during our last semester back in Philly. One weekend, Jacqueline helped me run a consumer focus group with a few of our male classmates to talk about men’s skincare. The event was really eye-opening, because it showed how much interest there was in the category as well as the lack of space for men to talk about it. There was also a clear absence of a quality yet affordable brand that addressed men’s growing interest in the grooming space. After that weekend, I convinced Jacqueline to join forces and we started to seriously work on the idea, which eventually led to the creation of Cardon. Our first check was actually from the Wharton Innovation Fund. We were awarded $5k which helped us design our logo, incorporate our company, and build our first website.
Joseph DeAcetis: What is the concept of K- Grooming
Narae Chung: Korean skincare, a.k.a. K-Beauty, is known for gentle, harsh-free formulas and unique natural ingredients. Korean skincare philosophy also embodies a lifestyle of self-care. Routines are more focused on proactive and preventative measures, and building healthy habits. At Cardon, we incorporate the same high quality standards into our formulations and translate the same philosophy in our skincare routine. Cardon products are focused on solving men’s grooming needs and addressing current pain points, such as shaving irritation. That’s why we call it K-Grooming.
Joseph DeAcetis: How does the Korean’s men’s care market differ from the US marketplace?
Narae Chung: The male skincare consumer in Asia today may seem quite sophisticated; he not only moisturizes, but also has regular dermatological treatments and likely wears a tinted moisturizer or BB cream as part of his everyday routine. However, a decade ago the men’s skincare market in Asia was in the same position that nascent markets, like the U.S., are in today. We see a similar trend of embracing a broader definition of masculinity and an investment in self-care through fashion, fitness, and diet. It’s only natural that personal care would follow. One difference we expect to see is that the U.S. market will have a greater focus on beard care than the Asian market, and people prefer a more simplified routine with multi-purpose products.
Joseph DeAcetis: What is the meaning behind the brand name Cardon?
Jacqueline Oak: A common concern we heard from men as it relates to skincare is shaving irritation or having sensitive skin, which makes sense if you’re taking a sharp blade to your face on a regular basis. We chose cactus extract as the hero ingredient in our skincare line because of it’s soothing and healing properties. Cactus extract is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. In fact, the Aztec used to use cactus to treat sun burns. Our brand name pays homage to this prickly plant and is named after the world’s largest cactus species.
Joseph DeAcetis: In your words, how and why is a healthy skin regimen important on the path to corporate ascension?
Jacqueline Oak:Skin is the most under-appreciated and overlooked accessory when it comes to dressing for success. You may have on the best outfit, but if you wake up with dark circles or a pimple in the middle of your face, you’re going to be worried that that’s what people will focus on and that impacts the confidence you project. Having healthy skin helps you feel confident and look less tired, which is a common concern our customers express to us.
Going beyond just the surface of skincare how it makes you look, having a skincare routine is like meditation. It gives you time to check-in with yourself. Having a consistent morning and night skincare routine gives you the mental space to prep and kick off your mornings, as well as wind down and reset at night.
Joseph DeAcetis: Talk to the consumers, retailers and investors reading here about what makes the current product unique from other men’s skincare brands?
Narae Chung: Everything we do is rooted in solving the pain points that the modern male consumer feels. We conducted in-depth ingredient research to address male specific skincare needs like sensitivity, redness, and irritation from shaving and that’s how we chose cactus as our main ingredients in our line to solve their skin concerns.
We also believe in giving consumers the best value possible. By leveraging the advanced skincare research and technology in South Korea, we’re able to provide products that are significantly higher quality at an accessible price point. Lastly, we’re building a brand that empowers consumers to embrace skincare as part of their lifestyle and self-care routine. We developed our collection to maximize the efficacy and impact with the least number of steps, while providing educational resources through our skincare blog and virtual consultations to help consumers discover the right routine for them.
Joseph DeAcetis: What sustainable attributes does the product and the packaging have?
Narae Chung: We place a lot of emphasis on the ingredients we use. All of our formulas are clean, meaning they don’t contain harsh preservatives like parabens, phthalates, sulfates, or silicones. Our products are made 100% cruelty-free and our ingredients are responsibly sourced. As we continue to build our product pipeline, we want to expand more into sustainable packaging through refillable, recycled packaging and exploring new sustainable materials for skincare.
Joseph DeAcetis: Describe to us what is a good skincare regime for men during office hours in quest for the path of dress for success and healthy skin.
Jacqueline Oak: The most important product to have with you throughout the day is an SPF Moisturizer, which is why we designed ours to be pocket-friendly. A SPF Moisturizer performs two functions: it hydrates your skin and protects you against sun damage. Even windows tend to only block UV-B rays and still let in UV-A rays which cause premature aging. Look for SPFs that are 30+ and are labeled with “Broad Spectrum” so it protects against both types of UV rays. If you tend to have oilier skin or want to squeeze in a quick workout during lunch, you should also bring along a gentle face wash. We opted for a clay-based formula for our cleanser, which absorbs dirt 4x better than charcoal but doesn’t dry out the skin. Also, sometimes you just need a good face wash to refresh your day.
Joseph DeAcetis: The men’s skincare market is worth 18.92 billion dollars. What are your strategy and financial projections for the next 2 years?
Jacqueline Oak: Men’s skincare growth is at a tipping point this year, and the new Zoom culture is a contributing factor. We expect the industry to continue to grow exponentially over the next few years, similar to what Narae experienced in the Asia market. Our mission at Cardon has been the same from the beginning: to provide a simple shopping experience for men to get premium skincare at an approachable price tag. We’ll continue to expand our product line to address current unmet needs and become a go-to resource for customers to comfortably learn and explore skincare. This year, we developed a new skincare blog based on top questions from customers, and launched virtual skincare consultations to help customers find the right products and routine. Building a strong relationship with our customers has been a key factor to our high growth this year. Currently, 1 in 3 customers repeat with us within 3 months and we hope to continue to see that grow.
Joseph DeAcetis: What was the inspiration behind building a men’s personal care brand?
NC/JO: Growing up in Korea, Narae saw first-hand the pride that Korean men took in their self-care. It was more than a routine—it was a way of life, an expression of self-worth, self-love and enjoyment. While she is working in the skincare and grooming industry in Asia, she was a part of the hyper growth of men’s personal care in Asia. When she moved to the US, she saw the same early indicators of the emergence of men’s self-care arising in the U.S.but there weren’t the same affordable and high quality options that there were in South Korea, where she was from. That’s how we started Cardon – make it personal care accessible to men leveraging K-beauty technology to address men’s specific skincare needs (skin irritation, redness from shaving, etc.)
Joseph DeAcetis: What did you do before Cardon?
NC/JO: Narae had worked for the skincare/grooming industry as a brand manager at Procter & Gamble (SK-II, Olay and Gillette). She has gained a lot of great consumer insight in the industry and built an extensive network, which helped us secure the largest skincare manufacturer in Korea to manufacture our product to deliver high product quality. Also, she has extensive experience in Ecommerce and growth marketing ad served as an associate director of growth marketing at Walmart Online Grocery. Jacqueline comes from a retail startups background. She has worked at Quidsi, an Amazon subsidiary, and M.M.LaFleur in a wide range of areas including finance, marketing analytics, and offline retail. She specializes in how to build profitable DTC businesses, and how offline retail has evolved from a sales channel to an experience channel.
Joseph DeAcetis: What do you attribute your initial success to?
First, the product has to be good. You can get people to try something once, but to build a business you need to build a relationship with the customer. We do that with quality products and a personalized experience. More than 1 in 3 customers repeat within the first 90 days. We offer a convenient and customizable subscription option as well as text and video skincare consultations. Our customers have grown to trust our quality and our brand; we focus on ingredient knowledge and even make recommendations beyond our product line to help customers find the best solutions for their skin.
I had a brief chat with model DAE about his thoughts on the importance of healthy skin and power dressing with regard to Dressing for Success!
Joseph DeAcetis: Talk to Forbes about how you achieved great success in the USA as being the top Korean male model in the industry?
DAE: Already 9 years in this industry and I feel like I still don’t know what I’m doing sometimes. What I know for sure is that I have great agents who are exceptionally good at what they do & always know what they are doing so I didn’t have much to worry about. One thing I did try though is being an early bird, whether it is Go-see, casting, fitting, shooting…always tried to be early and ready.
Joseph DeAcetis: In your words, why is Dressing for Success necessaryin achieving success as an employee as well an an entrepreneur?
DAE: The way you dress often reflects a lot about the person. Personality, attitude, confidence, readiness and most importantly good self-management. When you dress well and spend time taking good care of yourself people always notice and that’s always a plus.
Joseph DeAcetis: Why is men’s grooming so important in aiming to rise to corporate ascension?
DAE: I think the answer is similar to dressing for success. When you see a well-groomed man, you know that this man wakes up early in the morning to spend that extra time to take good care of himself and it only shows how much he values self-management and that’s always a plus as well.

Assigned-gender fragrances are starting to feel like last month’s milk — sour. Long-gone are the days of female-only florals and musks-for-men.
In most countries — especially France — fragrance creation is treated as a high art. The language of perfumery, while at times pretentious, bears witness to its layered qualities throughout the process of oxidation. While a fragrance can have a top note of lavender, it will open up to a muskier scent like Cashmeran Wood. Gender fluidity and non-binary assignments are not only prevalent in celebrity culture and streetwear. One nice thing about unisex fragrances? It makes packing for trips much simpler. When shopping for the fragrance enthusiast in your life, try any of the following award-winning unisex scents.

The epitome of luxury, Maison Krigler is one of the oldest perfume houses, privately held by the same founding family since 1904. Let’s face it (pun intended), lockdown this year really did not make any of us prettier. Excessive alcohol consumption, weight fluctuation and constant friction caused by mask wearing can all cause our jawline to soften and skin to breakout. With Christmas just around the corner and you wanting to look your best in front of family/relatives/childhood sweethearts, Dr Sophie Shotter (founder of the Illuminate Skin Clinic and acclaimed “Top Injector” according to Tatler Magazine) is here to give us some much needed pointers on how to decide on the precise type of “help” for that little boost you might need in time for the holiday season, and how to choose the best practitioner that is suitable for you.
I first heard Dr Sophie’s name when a friend (a seriously popular fashion designer and blogger with the perfect bone structure that, together with her talent, brought her great review and social media following) urged me to see her as I wanted to have a little help on my overly arched eyebrows. Upon meeting her for the first time at her London base at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, Dr Sophie immediately struck me as someone who is very quick to understand what her client hopes to achieve and pinpoint the cosmetic procedure that will best achieve such – often surprisingly different from what one went into her clinic having in mind.
I thought aside of my eyebrows, my jawlines also needed a bit of lifting and perhaps cheek fillers are the answer. But Dr Sophie wasted no time to tell me that a session of Ultherapy may be more beneficial before I consider fillers, and that even a teeny amount of fillers in the area under each ear may help achieve my desired outcome following the Ultherapy, instead of pumping in a greater amount in my cheeks, which are already quite plump. Her precision and efficiency was hard not to notice, as I was out of her office in 10 minutes and instantly looked fresher with my more adjusted brows. No wonder her clients (that she’s allowed to tell us) include influencers such as Roxy Horner, Nicole Meyer, Ianthe Rose (click here for a video of Ianthe being candid about cosmetic procedures and injectables), and great public figure Dame Kelly Holmes.
It is greatly known that Botox can be used to soften lines on the face and therefore gives you a fresher, more awake look which could remove years off one’s face. Botox, sometimes in combination with other treatments, can be used to achieve the foxy cat-eye look as seen on and made popular by Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. There is usually very little downtime associated with Botox treatment and you can even sneak in a session during your lunch break. However there are still risks involved, just like any cosmetic or medical procedure. It’s important to ask which brand you’re being injected with – Botox, Azzalure and BoCouture/Xeomin are all reputable, tested and safe.
Dr Sophie states that it is crucial that you research the practitioner thoroughly. It is very possible for someone to go on a one day training course and then set themselves up doing Botox treatments. Make sure that the person you have chosen as your practitioner is medically trained, experienced and understands the aesthetic you’re wanting to achieve. Personally I believe when choosing the right practitioner, their aesthetic viewpoint is the most important factor you may wish to consider following the qualification part, as your idea of beauty may differ drastically from your doctor’s.
Now onto fillers. It’s no secret that lip fillers probably contributed greatly to Kylie Jenner’s alleged $1billion net worth, and with limited downtime, the treatment has fast become this generation’s favourite go-to cosmetic procedure. There are over 180 licensed filler brands in the UK alone, but very few that Dr Sophie would class as safe and would choose to have injected into her clients’ face. Reputable brands to look out for are Juvederm, Teosyal, Belotero and Restylane.
Most fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a very safe choice, as it can be dissolved should there be complications. There are non-hyaluronic acid fillers available such as Radiesse and Ellanse which can give excellent results for certain patients, but are non-reversible.
Facial fillers can be used in many areas of the face – lips, cheeks, chins, jawlines and underlies for example. The type of filler used in these areas will differ. For example, in a delicate thin skinned area like the lip or the eye, you want to use a soft filler that will blend well with your own tissues. However when sculpting the cheeks or jawline Dr Sophie will recommend using a firmer filler to give shape and support. Make sure you trust that the injector you have chosen understands the look you want to achieve. Fillers are a combination of medicine and art, and it’s important you feel that your chosen ‘artist’ is going to deliver a look you are happy with.
Note that injectables such as Botox and fillers should ideally be administered a month before your big event, however some may notice more immediate result.
If you are not a believer in facial injectables, or simple don’t need them to look or feel amazing, there are a ton of choices Dr Sophie would recommend to help you feel that much more radiant during the festive season. LED light treatment, mesotherapy, peel, micro-needling can all be done between 2 days to two weeks before your big event to give you that extra glow.
With Christmas being one of the most popular time to get engaged, Dr Sophie also recommend Intense Hand Rejuvenation, which includes a brightening peel from the NeoStrata Pro System Peel range to suit the skin and its condition. This will slough off all dead skin and stimulating the cells to hydrate and thus plump and brighten the skin. Tiny, light injections of Volite Skin Booster are then administered to fill the lines whilst deeply hydrating the hands from within. The Treatment will end with a luxurious hand mask featuring SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque covered with a polythene protector and heat mitts to help the product to penetrate. If you cannot attend Dr Sophie’s Clinic for the treatment, an at-home kit can also be seen here.

Sotheby’s, the premier auction house, is diversifying its business model and has launched a new platform that allows consumers to purchase luxury items without having to go through the bidding process and its extra fees. In a world where consumers are becoming ever more discerning and wanting quick gratification – not to mention digital savvy – this sort of pivot from Sotheby’s (to complement its auction business) may just be the way forward in how we curate, purchase and consume luxury goods.
The new online platform is called Buy Now and it houses various product categories, from fine art to collectible sneakers, from highly coveted exotic skin Hermes handbags to rare wines and spirits. There are also jewelry, watches, writing instruments and classic cars. Buy Now also folded in what was previously Sotheby’s Home, which featured furniture and decorative items from top designers.
Buy Now skews towards a younger audience who is either looking for a first true luxury purchase or is adding to a growing collection. Younger in the sense that items available for purchase include for example: signed and game worn Shaquille O’Neal Reeboks with a $25,000 price tag, a rare wicker Panier de Peche bag from Hermes priced at $21,000, and a plethora of contemporary baubles from Place Vendome jewelers.
“Our newest platform – the Buy Now marketplace – has been created to connect collectors with beautiful objects easily and quickly and provides a complete luxury experience across fine jewels, contemporary art, collectible sneakers, watches, designer handbags, decorative objects, interiors and pens. The model is a fixed-priced format that complements our seasonal auction business, meaning that buyers can purchase items instantly at their convenience. Since its soft launch in September with Watches and Jewels, we have expanded our property mix to over 3,000 items across multiple categories and to date, our average sold item value has been $16,000, with 56% of those buyers being brand new to Sotheby’s. This immediately positions Sotheby’s as the world’s most exclusive destination for luxury items and we’re excited to now grow and scale this business. Some highlights currently available include: a limited edition Patek Philippe World Time wristwatch, statement pieces from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and David Webb, a Nike Lobster Dunk sneaker, an unusual Hermes Stromboli bag in alligator and plume de coq, as well as a selection of more than 100 pens from Montblanc and Montegrappa. We also recently partnered with RIMOWA to exclusively present three limited-edition RIMOWA watch cases on our Buy Now platform, and all of them sold, within a week,” said Josh Pullan, Managing Director of Sotheby’s Luxury Division.
